How to take care of your new Natural Soy Candle... Made with love in London, UK.
THE FIRST BURN MATTERS: Our candles are made to order which is why we advice to wait around 3-4 days before lighting your candle for the first time for maximum fragrance payout. When it is finally time to light your candle, please allow the wax to melt all the way to the sides of the container. This should take around 1-3 hours. Doing this ensures tunnelling, also known as memory rings. A memory ring means that, the next time you burn the candle, it'll burn no further than the leftover wax. More than anything, this leads to a surprisingly large amount of the candle being wasted.
TRIM YOUR WICK REGULARLY: Aim to trim your wick to about 3-4mm before you re-light your soy wax candle and make sure you remove the trimmings from the candle before you light it. This will ensure a long lasting candle, minimise soot and remove any mushrooming of carbon on the end of the wick.
EXTINGUISH YOUR CANDLE: While it can be tempting to just blow the candle out when you're done, this isn't the best way to extinguish it. Instead, either use a snuffer, or dip the wick into the candle's melted wax. This will stop the wick smoking and will help with re-lighting the next time. Be careful with the second option, though, as it's still an open flame.
DON'T BURN IT FOR TOO LONG: Burning your soy candle for too long can lead to the scent burning off before the candle is finished. Also, due to the nature of our candle pots, burning for too long can lead to discolouration. We advise burning our scented soy candles for a maximum of 3 hours at a time. This will ensure it melts properly but also provides enough scent. Scented candles continue smelling while the wax cools down and throughout the whole 40 hours of burning they offer.
STORE IT PROPERLY: Remember to cover the candle when it's not in use. This prevents dust from collecting on the wax, which can smell when you light it.
